HOUSE 3
SMITH DESIGN STUDIO was commissioned to renovate and extend the rear of an inner city terrace house as well as revive the existing period style interiors.
Room layouts have been altered to reflect the growing family, with a new rumpus room and “outdoor room” to the rear, allowing undercover play areas for children. A new retractable awning structure increases the useable floor space, but still allows light through to interior spaces. Living and existing kitchen areas are being given a new lease of life through introduction operable doors to the rear, louvered windows and renewed energy saving light fittings.
The finishes are calm and natural and low maintenance for a growing family. They include natural green grey slate, recycled timber joinery; wool carpet and neutral coloured low VOC paint. Bespoke joinery includes child friendly seating and pinboard areas for art, dress ups, general storage and integration of audio visual items.
The living, dining and rumpus rooms are furnished reflecting adult ,children and shared zones, whilst integrating a neutral, modern palette.
