SMITH DESIGN STUDIO was engaged by City of Sydney's Aged and Disability Service to design the upgrades to several of the activity centre facilities.
The main brief was to re-design the spaces for appeal to the next generation, and allow the spaces to have a more residential style rather than institutional.
Ownership, community and identity are all aspects of brief that we have considered in our designs. Integration of work by local artists, and a forum for community photos, events and information have been integrated into the new designs. The result - a welcoming gathering place for all members of the local community
The interior design has responded to the changing requirements of the centres, whilst respecting the existing fabric of the architecture. All finishes have been specified towards achieving a green star rating.
