Smith Design Studio has collaborated on interior design for a beautiful Luigi Rosselli designed house on the harbour front in Sydney.

The architecture features rich coloured ochre-rammed earth walls, ironbark timber flooring and crisp detailing throughout. The idea for the soft furnishings was to complement the earthy textures and palette of the building, harmonise with the client’s art collection, and respond to their lifestyle and harbour front setting.

Scope of work included furniture selection, bespoke joinery and upholstered items, window coverings, carpet design and liaison with architects for interior finishes, lighting and door hardware.

Selected finishes were chosen to complement with the surrounding architecture, and were guided by the artworks for each room. Finishes include chocolate, black and coffee coloured leathers, bronzed glass, tan patchwork hide rug, bronze and soapstone details to furniture. Bespoke rust and sky blue wall to wall carpet complement external finishes on each level. Window coverings vary between fresh white sunscreens to living areas to linen curtains and blinds for bedroom areas. Door hardware includes timber lever handles to contrast with the stark white doors.
